Bier Garten. It was great to see
everyone come together and share
their experiences.
Throughout the planning I kept
in mind elements of other groups
and activities that I would like
to incorporate in The Inaugural
Match. I’ve always been impressed
with the incorporation of history at
events held at The Schuetzen House
in Butte, The ASSRA matches at
Etna Green, the traditions upheld
in Davenport, New Braunfels and
Eau Claire. The .22 BPCRA and The
International Single Shot Association National Matches are well
organized and managed I looked at
those to guide me. Tappan Hill and
Smithmoor DIY attitudes motivate

me.
With all of these contributors in
mind I look at Smithmoor as the
model for emerging groups to
follow. They produce great events
and competitors but, most important they have created a community
with people of common interests.
A recent conversation with my
friend Cody Smith (from the
Smithmoor range) included his
congratulating me on putting
together a successful event (which
I appreciate). We discussed what
makes a successful event. We discussed attendance, participation,
support and other factors. Our
conclusion was the same, it’s not
the numbers, but rather the overall
quality of the experience. How well
was it run, are participants and volunteers happy. Are you happy with
how it went, etc...?
Reading my thoughts and reflecting
upon them reinforces continuing
The Single Shot Rimfire National
Match. I am grateful for the new
friends I made, for all of the selflessness exhibited by the volunteers
and just being fortunate enough to
be able to organize such an event.
By the time you read this, preparations will be in progress for the 2nd
Annual Single Shot Rimfire National Match.
I look forward to meeting you at
next year’s event!
Scott!
