DESERT INTERNATIONAL BLACK POWDER TARGET RIFLE
MARCH 11-17: GENERAL
NOTE: Last year Ben Avery issue strong warning about patches being left at the firing line.
PLEASE PICK UP AND PROPERLY DISPOSE OF YOUR PATCHES.
PRE ENTRY TO THIS EVENT IS MANDATORY
Black Powder and/or Pyrodex only.
Two Categories: Muzzle Loader Rifle and Black Powder Cartridge Rifle.
No differentiation between iron sights or period scope
Bench may be used if necessary due to medical issues. Benches are not supplied.
Butt stock must be supported by the shoulder and/or hand. No grounding or artificial
support.
Barrel may be supported by cross sticks, or wrist rest and/or 2 point sling.
Competitors shall pull targets for the opposite relay
Pit change after each relay.
All shooting each day from one firing point, Relay One left of firing point pin, Relay Two right
of firing point pin.
Shooters may leave equipment on firing line between relays, (except rifles, which must be
secured behind firing lines).
Open Bolt Indicators Required for Cartridge Rifles when moving to and from firing line and/or
rifles left in open behind firing line.
Cast or swaged lead alloy bullets only, no gas checks.
No convertible sighters.
Muzzle loaders may snap caps during preparation period. Final cap to loaded rifle shall NOT
be applied until assuming firing position.
Relay time shall be shared equally by the 2 shooters.
Pair firing is allowed (shooters alternating shots)
The person who fires first on the first target, shall fire second on the second target (unless pair
firing).
Remove rifles from firing line when both shooters strings are complete.
Two Classes:
o Standard: allowed help from a wind coach on all but the 3rd day at 1000 yards.
o Rifleman:
NOT allowed any wind coaching for record shots. If you register as Rifleman
you commit to shoot without any help from a wind coach on all black powder
target rifle days, (March 11 thru March 17).
Limit 4 sighters. First shot to hit target backboard is first sighter.
Pit Service may give feedback on location of any misses.
DAN THEODORE COMMEMORATIVE IRONMAN AWARD is the aggregate of the 500, 600,
800, 900 & 1,000 yard stages.
THE STEVE RHOADES MEMORIAL 1,000 YARD WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP AWARD is the
aggregate of the 3 days at 1,000 yard stages.
