as an option only for
shooters with a valid
reason why shooting
prone is impractical, not
because shooting seated
is ‘preferred.’ The objective is to enable more
people to shoot competitively and for more
years.
• The MLAGB will not
be providing shooting
seats or benches; that is
the responsibility of the
shooter. The seat should
not provide additional back support to the
shooter. Size of shooting
benches should not take
up any more space than
a typical shooting mat.
In adopting position at
a seat, shooters should
avoid disturbing those
adjacent to them.
information is particular
helpful for mid and long
range shoots, which are
squadded and may have
up to three people sharing a 昀椀ring point.
One issue that arose,
which should be considered when squadding
events, is placing prone
shooters alongside those
that are sitting. Shadows
cast and movement on the
昀椀ring point by those at a
bench, can be problematic
for those lying alongside.
This is especially an issue
when sunlight is on the
foresight, and movement
from the sitting shooter
results in alternating light
and shade for the prone
shooter.
Two ‘seasons’ have now
been completed where
shooting seated is permitted for those who need to
make use of the option. It
has been welcomed by all
and successful in its intent
of enabling greater participation in competitive target shooting.

• For those seeking
MLAGB international team selection, they
must 昀椀re their matches
from positions sanctioned by the Muzzle

as permitted under the

rules.
• Entry forms may be
amended to include
a declaration that the
competitor is unable to
shoot prone and will be
shooting seated. This

The bench is small because all loading and preperation of muzzle
loaders is done behind the line with use of a loading stand
