Driving to the international long
range muzzleloader match last
Oct, Mr. Cli昀昀 Gregg and I were
discussing having started the
muzzleloader nationals again.
It’s been a dormant match for
roughly 5yrs at that point and
we thought it was something we
should consider doing again!!
A few conversations with Mr.
Shaver we had a pretty good
idea as to what we needed to do.
800 yard Line Action
The match was to be a close
copy to the international match
we were about to shoot with a
few twists to keep it di昀昀erent.
We started the week with a bit
of “schooling” from 3 of the
best ML shooters in the world,
Steve Farringer, Dave Gullo
and Lee Shaver. We spent the
day talking position, technique,
loads, cleaning, bullets, etc. We
even had some show up only for
this opportunity, and what am
opportunity it was! We 昀椀nished
up the day with some 200yd
22lr shooting. We were able to
see how and what we learned
thru the day a昀昀ected our shots.
I can’t thank those guys enough
and I hope to do it again! (We
may do this again, and I’ll keep
people posted on it!).
We decided to not let the muzzleloaders have all the fun and
also set up with the BPTRF, the
mid-west regionals for the cartridge folks! They would follow
our schedule for course of 昀椀re
and time limits.
Day 1 of shooting was from the
300yd line. Temps and humidity were climbing into the
uncomfortable zone by the end
of the day but that was only the
beginning.
