Now the 600 yards. It was getting later
but the weather was holding so we set up
again and Detail 1 got to it. Other than
Sharon having to retire with a load issue
the scores were going well. Shayne on a
38 was the top score. Now the light left
us, and it was decided that Detail 2
would shoot in the morning. Sorry Lindsay that you missed out on a play this
time.
We then packed up for the evening and
broke out the snacks as the sun set. The
latest batch of shirts and hoodies were
dispensed. Purple is now the new black.
Membership forms and fees were also
collected. Thank you to those who have
rejoined. We chatted about how our Nationals planning is going and other upcoming events.
Unfortunately, Dan & Sharon couldn’t
stay for Sunday and headed home. Dan
had to work and was hoping to squeeze
in some reloading for next weekend.
Janette was entrusted with the clipboard, and the BRAA port was left for a
night cap as the fire was lit.
(no need to change target face or location). Due to the details being split
across the two days, to be fair it was decided to shoot 3 sighters, 10 for score.
Richard and Jim went to the target pit
while Detail 1 (Shayne, Ken, John) got
ready. Shayne decided to try something
different with the Gibbs and ran it off the
prone X-sticks without his sling or
jacket, which saw immediate results,
however rain arrived. The rain played
havoc with the muzzleloading loads and
stopped being consistent, though he kept
all shots on target. Ken top scored, before we quickly retreated to the club
house to dry and oil rifles and wait for
the rain to pass with coffee and biscuits.
Whilst the heaviest of the rain passed
around 11.15am, though it looked to be
scattered showers for the rest of the day,
Detail 2’s enthusiasm had disappeared –
Richard and John now had wet camps to
pack up, and while Jim had been in the
target pits, the canopy on his ute had
been open and channelled water into his
rifle and gear. It was decided to not finish the shoot and pack up and head
home early. Shayne certainly made use
of the early return home, drying out his
gear before repacking for the trip to SA.
As the final 600yds distance was incomplete, scores from the first 3 distances
were compiled for the overall score.
June crew
Sunday morning was again warm for the
middle of June, very little dew also. As
Mark packed to leave early Detail 2
(Richard, Jim & Keith) got ready on the
line to finish the 600yds match, while
John and Shayne did target duty. With
3 shooters it was a quick detail, done in
35-40 mins. Richard had a few misses
high to start before settling in and finding the target, and Jim top scored the detail.
After a consensus, it was decided to do
the 600yds again to finish the weekend
