So
I got
talked into
going to the Quigley….
5 PM, the sun is shining on my
back, and it is day four of the
Quigley practice 2026. As a 昀椀rst
timer, sidekick, chair hauler
and picture taker, it has been
quite the experience thus far. As
of now, the weather, I’ve been
told, is outstanding and unusually temperate. The grass is
green, and the sky is sparkling
blue with meandering pu昀昀s of
white in every sort of con昀椀guration. Just when I think I’m
sitting in a sauna and questioning “am I at a spa”, a fantastic
knowing breeze brings a delicious relief, and all becomes
right in the world once again.
What brings me to this outstanding oasis in Montana you
ask? LOVE. 35 years ago, a special Marine taught me the fun of
target shooting and unleashed
skills in shooting I was unaware
existed. The universe doesn’t

always make things easy and
lo and behold we’ve just now
rediscovered each other after so
many years. A love today that
the past only fantasized about.
His exuberance and passion for
this sport intrigued me enough
to join him on this wild expedition to the Quigley. Promises of
crazy weather, lots of walking,
booming bullets resulting in the
pungent sulfurous smoke that
as a newbie, I learned early on
not to inhale too deeply… were
all promised and delivered.
Also assured, was the hospitality and genuine kindness in
every direction I 昀椀nd myself. In
the town of Forsyth, at the gas
station, the gals running the
yummy food truck on location,
