Two targets are shot on Sunday.
Normally, all shooting is over with
in the early afternoon. Scores
are double checked and then the
closing ceremony starts. Copious
amounts of door prizes are passed
out and then come the trophies.
This year, there was a change-up.
Bev Sleaford took on the MC role
and knocked it out of the park! She
kept things moving right along and
then the biggest event of the year
happened.
The winners were all announced
and collected their trophies. Maybe
the most remarkable of the bunch
this year was Dan Burgess who
won the Small Fry division with a
score of 27 (including a 5 on the
off-hand). Beyond that, he also won
the raffle for a $2000 gift certificate for a new Shiloh Sharps rifle.
Happiness has no better look than a
wild-eyed grinning kid running up
to claim his prize when his name
got called.
I guess my point with all this is that:
There is no such thing as an “average Quigley shooter”. These people
are not average by any stretch. They
are here to have fun and they d0n’t
care about minor inconveniences
like a stray 40 MPH wind.
Some of the best and most fun
things ever take place on the Lee
Ranch just north of Forsyth, MT.
For one week out of the year, a cow
pasture turns into Quigleyville and
stress gets left behind. It’s all made
possible by the many people who
have contributed to running this
match over the years and the ones
who are running it now. If you haven’t made it to the Quigley yet, you
have no one to blame but yourself.
