An original Turner military target ri昀氀e

The LRR Volunteer Trophy (15
shots at 600 yards) was held
at Bisley on 8 May. It is 昀椀red
with full stocked .45 cal. muzzle loading military target ri昀氀es
昀椀tted with barrel mounted open
sights. While the large bore .577
military ri昀氀e can also be used,
it is generally outclassed by the
small-bore ri昀氀e. Both originals
and reproductions will be seen
on the range, of the latter, the
Parker-Hale Volunteer and
Whitworth ri昀氀es are popular
choices. This style of ri昀氀e appeared in the early 1860s, later
being improved with the addition of tang mounted aperture
