The type of soil in and
around Reed point Montana is
called very chancery loam. The
town of Reed Point is actually
named after the dirt around
here. The technical name of it
is Reed Point very channery
loam. Basically it has a lot of
limestone in it. It’s a crunchy
hard dirt that tends to drain
water well and when it’s dry,
it makes a lot of dust. It’s an
excellent location for a shooting
range because you can easily see
your impact when you miss the
target, at least most of the time!

next to a big old Juniper bush

might just seem to vanish into
10, was the 22 BPCR silhouette
match. The condition started
o昀昀 fairly calm and got progressively windier throughout the
day. The match wrapped up
at about 1300 and by then the
winds were hitting 30 miles an
hour. Very challenging work for
a 22 rim昀椀re at ranges out to 200
yards!
After delivering poor
performances at both the Desert
International and the Quigley,
I was looking to have a better
outing this time. I had gotten
here on Saturday of last week
and by the time Thursday rolled
around, I had familiarized myself with the range and with my
sight settings for all the distancThe chickens, those damn chickens...
