You don’t need a 45-90 or a 45100 for that. Additionally, the
maximum distance you’re going
to be shooting is 500 yards.
Not exactly what you would call
long range so your ammunition
doesn’t have to be expected to
wring out the best velocity and
the highest stability at long
range. You can get away with
a load that has a lower muzzle
velocity and is easier to shoot.
Long range stability is never
going to enter the question the
way it will with thousand yard
target matches.
So now I have my to-do
list, all I have to do is 昀椀nd time
to make it all happen!

ers for my fouling control. My
method would be to run a bore
wiper with two felts and MPro-7
solution on them with a tightly
wrung out moose milk patch
behind it. I can then dry my
chamber out with the chamber
mop, seat my next round and be
ready to go. All fouling control
completed in one step.
I would like to report
that I shot well at the match.
The reality is that I don’t think
I did. I was learning the rhythm
of the match and getting used
to the timing of things. I had a
good time and I learned a lot. I
gained useful insight into what
kind of load I need to have, the
fouling control I need to use
and what I can do for practice to
help me get better in the meantime before I hit my next match.
Since my o昀昀-season is under-
62
way, I’m planning to work up
a load for the 40–65 ri昀氀e to
be used strictly for silhouette
shooting and possibly the Quigley Match. The trick with silhouette is that you simply have
to knock the animal o昀昀 the rail.
